Ngā Tai ki Mauao is an informal collective of iwi and hapū, individuals and community groups committed to protecting the mauri of Te Awanui (Tauranga Harbour).

We have challenged applications by the Port of Tauranga to further expand wharves and increase dredging footprint and dumping in vulnerable ecosystems.

We have had a number of successes, but we are facing a multi-billion dollar corporation that has always been focused on increasing shareholder returns through expanded operations in the face of ongoing opposition from mana whenua.
